Welcome Friends and Fellow Rotarians

Eric McClintock

Eric McClintock – President of the Rotary Club of Wexford

As we begin the Rotary year of 2025/26, I am inspired by the honour of becoming President of The Rotary Club of Wexford. I start by recognising the continued club growth in numbers and success under previous Presidents and congratulate my predecessor, Maree Lyng, on a terrific Presidency.

Since its inception in 1978, the Rotary Club of Wexford has been a beacon of service and fellowship in Wexford town and county. With this year’s Rotary International theme of “Unite for Good,” I hope to bring our club closer together and inspire new members to join our fellowship and give “Service above Self.”

My vision for the year is built on Rotary’s core values: Fellowship, Integrity, Diversity, Service, and Leadership. These values have been at the heart of Rotary Wexford since its inception. They will be paramount as we focus our efforts on the seven core priority areas: Health, Education, Well-Being, Environment, Water, Peace, and Community Development.

We will continue to focus on health and environment, supporting polio eradication and a just transition as we continue to improve efficient energy usage and healthier community spaces.

We will continue our highly regarded Just One Life program, encouraging older school students, as they progress to become drivers, to be aware of how important their lives and others are when in charge of a vehicle. We will continue our Schools Interact Project, where Loretto, Presentation and St Peter’s colleges are doing excellent work in local and international projects. Alongside these are our Youth Leadership and Careers Connect programs. All of these encourage young people to step into leadership and service roles.

Our Tree of Remembrance and our free Home Hampers projects bring light to the community during the special days around Christmas. We will also be sponsoring a new initiative from some of our members, whose “Beyond Bias” education project will launch later in the year. The project aims to highlight and reduce conscious and unconscious gender bias. Our new Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion club lead appointment will be another step towards better and fairer social integration.

Finally, we are delighted to welcome into Rotary our corporate partners and members who bring fresh energy and enthusiasm. All are welcome to join in our social events, the Opera Festival visit, the fellowship walks, the quiz nights and our Christmas dinner.

Together in Uniting for Good, the Rotary Club will continue to show leadership in Wexford and beyond and inspire Service above Self.
