Welcome Friends and Fellow Rotarians

As I begin my year as President of the Wexford Rotary Club for 2024-2025, I feel honoured and inspired to lead a club with such a rich legacy. Since its founding in 1978, our club has been a beacon of service and fellowship in Wexford, and I’m thrilled to carry forward that tradition. This year’s theme, “The Magic of Rotary,” resonates deeply with me, as I truly believe in Rotary’s transformative power to turn everyday acts of kindness into meaningful change.

My vision for the year is built on Rotary’s core values: fellowship, integrity, diversity, service, and leadership. These values have been at the heart of our club since its inception, and they will guide me as we continue our efforts in Rotary’s seven priority areas: health, education, wellbeing, environment, water, peace, and community development. I am particularly committed to advancing our health initiatives, supporting polio eradication, and driving the Just One Life programme to equip students with critical life-saving skills.

Education is another pillar I’m passionate about, with programmes like Careers Connect and the Youth Leadership Development Competition empowering the next generation. I’m especially proud to support the Interact Club at Loreto, where we inspire young people to step into leadership roles and serve their community.

Our environmental efforts, such as “Greening the Fleadh” and community clean-ups, aim to foster a greener, more sustainable Wexford. Fellowship will also be at the heart of our club, with a range of events—from barbecues to our Polio Gala Ball and Rotary Night at the Opera—bringing us closer together and celebrating the joy of Rotary.

As President, I want every member to feel the “magic” that comes from connecting our passions with meaningful projects. Since 1978, our club has shown how powerful collective action can be, and I’m excited to lead us in making a real difference, one small miracle at a time.

Maree Lyng – President of the Rotary Club of Wexford
