On November 21, 2024 the Excellence in Local Government Awards were held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dublin Airport. This year, a record number of 191 submissions were received from 27 Local Authorities, underscoring the importance of these awards in showcasing the exemplary service provided by Local Authorities to their communities. A total of 98 Local Authority projects were shortlisted across 15 categories.
Wexford County Council and the Just 1 Life Road Safety Programme were shortlisted in the Local Authority Innovation Category. Just 1 Life is a collaborative initiative of The Rotary Club of Wexford and Wexford County Council. Just 1 Life was launched in Wexford in 2006 with the goal of saving young people’s lives and highlighting the potentially devastating consequences of poor road safety decisions. During the 2024/2025 school year over 2,250 students from all the secondary schools in County Wexford are scheduled to attend Just 1 Life events at the National Opera House in Wexford.
Although the Just 1 Life programme was not a winner at the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2024, it was truly an honour to have been shortlisted. The Rotary Club of Wexford would like to thank Wexford County Council for its partnership and support of the Just 1 Life programme.
